Gleason, Flynn, Emig & Fogleman, Chartered engages in commercial litigation in the state and federal trial and appellate courts of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The firm represents clients in a wide array of commercial disputes, including contractual matters, business torts and creditors' rights cases, among others. The firm's commercial litigation clients are a diverse blend of individuals, corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and small businesses, including financial institutions, investors, health care providers, franchise and distributorship owners and small business owners. Our extensive trial experience as well as our frequent use of alternative dispute resolution methods has provided our clients with consistently excellent results at highly competitive rates.

In the creditors' rights area, the firm's attorneys have extensive experience in collecting obligations arising from notes, judgments, accounts receivable and other financial transactions. Among the contractual matters the firm has handled have been cases involving distributorship agreements, wage and commission payment claims, real estate contracts and lease agreements. GFE & F has also successfully represented clients on business tort matters, including conversion of corporate assets, civil conspiracy, and breach of fiduciary duties.

Since 1992, GFE & F has developed particular expertise in defending banks against a wide variety of claims. In 2007, the firm obtained a defense verdict in a week-long jury trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in a case brought against a local bank seeking both compensatory and punitive damages for alleged negligent hiring, training and supervision of two of its management employees and fraud. The firm has also consistently obtained defense verdicts for its bank clients in smaller claims brought in the District Courts of Maryland, the General District Courts of Virginia and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, including its Small Claims Division.
